Foods that take away the blues

Research has shown that eating a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, legumes, olive oil and fish can help to reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease, diabetes and even Alzheimer’s disease. And now a new study indicates that it may also help to prevent depression.

The Mediterranean diet has long been thought to explain the long life expectancy of southern Europeans. And because Mediterranean countries also have lower rates of depression and suicide than many other countries, researchers were curious about whether their diet might also affect mental health.

Canadian warning about Kraft Tartar sauce

OTTAWA – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Kraft Canada are warning people to be careful in consuming Kraft Tartar sauce.

The agency says certain batches have an incorrect back label and contains egg ingredients which are not declared on the label. There are no reported illnesses and Kraft is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace.
