Frozen lasagna taste-test winners

I just got off the phone with an employee of a New York City Whole Foods. I called to confirm some prices mentioned in this post. When I said, “I’m calling about frozen lasagna,” the employee said, “Mmm, frozen lasagna, that sounds so good.” I thought, “It does? Weird.”

Frozen lasagna is a savior to many busy home cooks–especially home cooks with a family to feed–and for that reason, most people have held a special place for it in their heart since childhood.

School lunches a national security threat?

WASHINGTON – School lunches have been called many things, but a group of retired military officers is giving them a new label: national security threat.

That’s not a reference to the mystery meat served up in the cafeteria line either. The retired officers are saying that school lunches have helped make the nation’s young people so fat that fewer of them can meet the military’s physical fitness standards, and recruitment is in jeopardy.

Dietary sugar linked to high cholesterol

As if you needed another good reason to kick your soda habit, a new study from the Journal of the American Medical Association reveals that a diet heavy in added sugar is linked to elevated triglyceride levels and may increase your risk for a heart attack.
